THE FUTURE IS NOW! ALBERTO’S TROUSER COLLECTION FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2020
For the coming spring/summer 2020 season, German brand ALBERTO is once again embracing its ‘Pants we love’ slogan. The trouser connoisseur from Mönchengladbach is concentrating on a modern mix of lightweight linen trousers, elegant Ceramica styles, casual cottons, authentic denims, easy-going seersucker models and technologically sophisticated Revolutionals. The modern trouser selection also boasts well thought-out details and perfect tailoring with elaborate washes, subtle surface treatments and imaginative combinations of patterns, colours and fabrics rounding off the package. And what would the warm season be without Bermudas and other short styles? A collection segment that ALBERTO has extended in preparation for the warm months ahead. Here’s an exclusive sneak peek at the new collection for summer 2020. ADVERTORIAL
CASUAL COTTON: VERSATILE STYLING OPTIONS
The classic, the Broken Twill Chino, comes in light colourways, including some pastels, and also cropped and regular lengths. Highlights include a model in powder blue with a Glen plaid pattern, an extra-light style with polka dot design on the outside and a paisley print on the inside, as well as a trouser model with fine red/white micro-stripes that is blue on the inside. Another highlight: the ‘House’ drawstring pants with narrower waistband, ties on the inside and tone-in-tone side stripes. Monochrome pants, also available as Bermudas, are also a real feast for the eyes. Not to mention a wide selection of shorts: whether as gabardine cargos with camouflage pattern or as Ceramica gabardine Bermuda shorts in neon brights. With such a wide choice of styles, there’s no chance of boredom setting in!
Under the term ‘Smart Dressy’, ALBERTO is once again presenting highly fashionable models that stand out with their choice fabrics and perfect fit. Super-light Ceramica checks in brown/beige and grey/baby blue alternate with classic chinos made of a high-tech material with subtle grey/light grey, blue/blue and charcoal grey checks. But if that’s not enough fashion for you, the ‘Business Traveller’ model goes one step further. Thanks to the use of functional high-tech fibres, it offers maximum freedom of movement and a smart mélange design. New addition ‘Ken’ – a sporty trouser style with pressed tucks, check pattern and trendy narrow turn-ups – is sure to turn heads next summer. And as well as cotton, linen is another key fabric making an appearance.
DENIM IS THE WORD
A trouser collection without denim is like soup without salt. The trouser makers from Mönchengladbach are therefore focusing on cosy denims in light weights – which are ideal for the summer – and discreetly washed bi-stretch fabrics as well as modern, elaborately finished coloured styles with buffies (those artificial creases around the thighs), as well as crinkles and rough and tough washes. As well as a wide, high-cut five-pocket model with light contrasting seams in natural colours, another highlight is a medium-weight model made of premium-quality Japanese red selvedge with a button fly and elaborately printed inside pockets. ALBERTO also offers denim that can be worn in the office: the brand’s smart Tencel, light and cosy denims are incredibly comfortable. And the breathable and temperature-regulating Coolmax jeans let functionality speak for itself.
COMFY & EASY: SEERSUCKER/RIPSTOP
Another fabric that will be speaking for itself in the upcoming spring/summer 2020 season is a lightweight that offers incomparable comfort: the crepe fabric seersucker. Its three-dimensional crinkle look alone is enough to make it a top trend. Reason enough for ALBERTO to feature no less than four items made of this fabric in the new collection. The ‘Charles-C’ model boasts a trendy striped pattern and a discreetly lengthened waist loop, either in a cropped length or as a casual Bermuda short with a waist pleat. The slim-fit ‘Charles’ and the striped ‘Wide’ with double pleat and cropped length in muted charcoal grey and black, on the other hand, are going for more of an elegant look paired with a laid-back sportswear vibe. And just as important are the pants made of an ultra-fine ripstop fabric. Minimal checks and subdued earthy tones exude a casual attitude.
BACK TO THE FUTURE
Lobeline the wolfdog was the co-star of the ALBERTO campaign last season. And now for summer 2020, the pants pro has chosen to work with one of the most legendary vehicles in automobile history: the DeLorean by DMC. During 1981 and 1982, just 9,200 DeLorean cars were built. The model achieved cult status after appearing in the legendary ‘Back to the Future’ movies as the time machine. In the brand-new ALBERTO campaign, this cult symbol is taking centre stage alongside the modern collection – ready to take off for the future.
